Pella Earns the Prestigious ENERGY STAR® Award

For the fifth consecutive year, The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Energy (DOE) announced that Pella Corporation has earned an ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year 2011 award for their commitment to manufacturing energy-efficient products and educating consumers about them. Additionally, for the third year in a row, Pella was honored with ENERGY STAR’S most prestigious Sustained Excellence 2011 award, in recognition of their commitment to successfully managing energy use and promoting ENERGY STAR products and practices within the organization. This designation is given to a select group of organizations that have exhibited enduring leadership in their category year after year, as demonstrated by Pella’s consecutive ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year awards. Organizations who receive this award have reduced greenhouse gas emissions by setting and achieving aggressive goals, employing innovative approaches, and demonstrating the benefits of energy efficiency on a continued basis.
The ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Awards recognize manufacturers and retailers that successfully promote and deliver ENERGY STAR qualified products, saving consumers money and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Award winners were selected from more than 9,000 organizations that participate in the ENERGY STAR program.

ENERGY STAR® is a government-backed program helping businesses and individuals protect the environment through the use of high-efficiency products. Started by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1992, ENERGY STAR began as a voluntary labeling program designed to identify and promote energy-efficient products to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Pella has partnered with ENERGY STAR since 1999. Most Pella windows and doors meet ENERGY STAR performance guidelines when glazed with Low-E insulating glass. Pella’s commitment to ENERGY STAR extends to product design, testing, consumer education, sales, marketing, public outreach, product labeling, specification development, and training. The ENERGY STAR label is featured on major appliances, office equipment, lighting and home electronics, in addition to quality windows and doors. EPA also has extended the program to include new homes and commercial and industrial buildings.

Last year alone, with the help of ENERGY STAR, Americans saved more than $16 billion on their energy bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 27 million vehicles. By choosing ENERGY STAR qualified products, the typical household can save up to 30% on its energy bills – more than $600 per year – while improving home comfort and helping the environment.
